The QNUK Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People (RQF) is an introduction to safeguarding and protecting children or young people. It provides those working with children and young people the knowledge on how to recognise and respond to cases of alleged or suspected abuse.
Gaining this qualification indicates an individual can undertake a specific role in the workplace and may be relied upon by employers.

Learning and Assessment--
Guided Learning Hours (GLH) are the hours that a student needs to be engaged in learning. This includes time spent in independent study, but does not include assessment.
For this course GLH is 6 hours.
Total Qualification Time (TQT) is an estimate of the total length of time it is expected that a learner will typically take to achieve and demonstrate the level of attainment necessary for the award of the qualification i.e. to achieve all learning outcomes.
For this course, TQT is 10 hours.
Minimum Contact Hours: 6 hours, plus examination.
This qualification is assessed by multiple choice examination. The pass mark is 70%.
The course is comprised of two units:
LO 1: Understand how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace.
LO 2: Know how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused.
You must be 18 or over and be able to provide sufficient ID.
All assessment will be conducted in English. Before being assessed, you must have language skills equivalent to:
- B1 Level qualification
- An ESOL qualification at (Level 1) on the Ofqual register taken in England, Wales or Northern Ireland
- A functional skills Level 1 in English.
