A long term member, practitioner and trainer with NFPS (National Federation for Personal Safety) in relation to Use of Force and Physical Intervention in the security and school environments.

OJAST Ltd is always aiming to provide quality training in key areas of security, first aid and health & safety.

Working with selected partners Owen Smorthit B.E.M. is using his expertise to fulfil that aim.

Successful Kuwaiti Security Management Course (13/13 Distinctions)

 Owen Smorthit. BEM, BA (Hons)ED, Cert.Ed. M.Syl

Owen has worked within the security industry sector for over 48 years. His career has allowed him to acquire a broad range of experience and knowledge. This he draws upon whilst running OJAST Ltd.

Owen spent 11 years within the Wiltshire Constabulary. He was responsible for assessing the force’s physical training needs. In response to their needs, he initiated their Self-Defence Training Department.

Owen also served in the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. Attached to the Royal Artillery and the Army School of Physical and Recreational Training. Finally with 36 Royal Engineers. Whilst serving with them he was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to sport, charity and Maidstones community.

Owen’s education stood him in good stead planning, writing and delivering training qualifications up to Level 5 Security Diploma. He works within institutions and individuals throughout the UK.  Recently he has trained security staff in Kuwait. This 10 month training programme was converted from distance learning to classroom Level 5 Security Management. Success followed with 23 distinctions from 33 trainees. He is currently still working with RIMSCO in Kuwait on National Infrastructure Security Training for 2018.
